Captains Blog & Crew News – October 2007 & Diwali 2007

Crew News:

I visited Bombay for a week with the view of getting my passport renewed but was sent back to Phuket with the work incomplete as my presence was required back to get the yacht ready to sail to Phuket. Kalizma sailed from Phuket to the Andamans at the end of October for guest’s usage over the Diwali weekend.
Good News: Vivek Singh is completing his 6months required time on a tanker and is joining back in Feb 2008. We are also trying to get hold of Kevin Adrian so that he can join back as Master in waiting. Richard has taken over full time in the Galley as Owner’s Chef. Sasha Marker has been promoted to Chief Stewardess The Bosn Saini is on the lookout for a good deckhand so that we can have the respective departments fully crewed.

Ship’s News:

Kalizma has spent 3 weeks in the Andamans, 10 days with guests on board and a week waiting for the weather to subside and give a chance to sail back.
In the Andamans, Kalizma cruised Ritchie’s Archipelago, was involved in the shooting of 2008 Calendar edition and spent time with guests diving as well as beach activities.
The islands were given a thumbs up but Port Blair itself was a disappointment with all the normal bueracratic tangles expected in an ISPS Port.
However, we were able to load up on ship’s stores, alchohol and Owner’s requirement items before heading back to Phuket.

Ship’s Plans:

We will be in Phuket till the end of the month and sail out to Kata/Karon at the time of the King’s Cup.
A trip to Langkawi is also on the cards to pick up the stores lying there – expected to be done about the 10th of Dec.
We will also be present at the Phuket Yacht Invitataional off the Amanpuri on the 21st of December.
We are also hoping to get some cruising in the Similian Islands before the end of the year.
See you next month. We have updated the website with cruising information on Ritchie’s Archipelago in the Andamans.
