Captains Blog & Crew News – September 2007

Ship’s News:

The yacht will now stay on in Phuket, at least till the 1st week of November for possible Owner’s Requirements The proposed trip to Langkawi in September was postponed to about the 3rd week of October. The yacht did an extended sea trial for 5days and all the equipment was tested out. The weather wasn’t that great with squalls due to the change of monsoons setting in We are back in the Marina getting all the coolers, strainers, etc cleaned up and completing all general maintenance works.

Captain’s News:

A friend of mine, Petal Deas, was down for 3 days. The weather was horrible, rained all the time – so we spent more time in restaurants and bars than on any beach I also have some school friends coming down and staying at the Marriott next week, so feeling very much in touch with home.

I also have leave sanctioned from the 13th for a week so will get to go home after 6 months.

Crew News:

Most of the crew is back from leave. Sasha Marker joins back on Monday, the 7th of October Surender Saini and Sunil Sharma are going to Bangkok on a 4day engine maintenance course on Jetskis and OBM’s with Yamaha.
Richard Devakumar has taken over the Chef’s position for the moment and the cuisine has improved on board. He is doing Indian, Thai and Conti cuisines plus back to taking lessons from Peter at Les Anges Christine will be doing 15days more on a foot and head massage course to further complement her qualifications Sophy is helping Richard in the galley and learning Thai cuisine so that she can assist him with guests.

Charter and Guests News:

The season in Asia is around the corner and the boat is getting ready for a busy season.
Lots of enquiries, particularly for the festive season are coming up. The Kings cup Race week is also around the corner and the yacht is tightening up her schedules We are upgrading in the following areas to make the yacht more comfortable for guests – navigation software, additional linen and fabrics, cutlery and crockery plus we have identified specific areas that we would like to improve on with regard to crew capabilities.
